The Medical City Clark Reaches New Heights with 'Topping Off' Ceremony

The rising of The Medical City Clark (TMC), a prestigious world-class medical center in the Philippines, has reached new heights with its recently commenced “Topping Off” ceremony headed by its contractor S.C.Megaworld Construction and Development Corporation in partnership with Global Gateway Logistics City and Peregrine Development International, Inc.

 

The “topping off” is a construction tradition that is celebrated when the highest structural element is about to be put in place or the overall structure is completed.

 

To commemorate the milestone, Hector Sanchez, President and CEO of S.C. Megarworld officially jump started the event with his warm welcome remarks.

Following the welcome remarks, TMC President and CEO Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon made a speech commending both S.C. Megaworld and GGLC for being ahead of schedule in the construction based on its original target date in September of this year.

 

In his speech, Dr. Bengzon considers TMC in Clark as a “building of a dream” adding that the hospital is the realization of a dream to bring to the Filipinos the most fundamental human right and that is the right to health and to improve human life.

 

Peregrine President and CEO Dennis Wright followed suit presenting the new milestones for GGLC in addition to the on-going construction and near completion of the first class health care destination in the region. Some of these milestones were: first vertical structural is going up, sufficient horizontal structure in place, building on an 8th storey office building and a retail commercial plaza.

 

Aside from being the 1st Aerotropolis in the Philippines, with the airport terminal and expansion of SM Mall in both sides, Mr. Wright fearlessly forecasted that Clark will be the second most recognized word in the vocabulary of travellers.


The highlight of the event which is the pouring of concrete was done by the top officials of TMC, SC Megaworld and Peregrine. The officials were: Michael Russell – Vice President, KGL Investment, Dennis Wright – President & CEO, Peregrine Dev’t Int’l Inc., Dr. Alfredo R.A. Bengzon – President  & CEO, TMC, Margaret Bengzon – Group Head, Strategic Services, TMC, Jose Xavier Gonzales – Treasurer, TMC and Hector Sanchez – President, SC Megaworld Construction & Dev’t Corp.


Other guests who witnessed the event Gerard T. Dee, Patrick Y. Ang and Glenna Rae C. Gatapia of China Bank and Mr. Rynor Jamandre of Quantity Solutions.

 

TMC is a state-of-the art medical facility with 1,500 medical staff complemented by over 2,700 workforce. The Medical City in Clark is anticipated to be fully operational next year and will serve as TMC’s flagship center for Central and Northern Luzon.
